This hand held ruggedized product was released in 2014. It was developed in concert with the Smiths internal engineering team.

 

Nexus Design developed the overall mechanical enclosure that houses the small laser detector so that it could withstand harsh environmental treatment including:

• Prolonged exposure to water (IP5-4)
• 4' drop test
• Heat dissipation for the laser components

The enclosure meets all of these goals while maintaining usability and ergonomics. The device is primarily hand held but can live attached to a robotic arm and so the removable shock boot allows the unit to slim down for reduced access locations.
